This is a charity initiative undertaken by Allscript in collaboration with SG50for50 and the Samaritans of Singapore (SOS). All proceeds from the sale of this book will be donated to SOS.
The Samaritans of Singapore (SOS) have published these letters and diary entries written by the best friend of 16-year-old Alyessa who jumped to her death. It is clear how anger and despair overcomes the writer but gradually a measure of recovery and hope can be seen to emerge from the welter of grief and self-questioning.
SOS is a secular non-profit organisation which provides 24-hour confidential emotional support to people who have difficulty coping during a crisis, who are thinking of suicide or affected by suicide. Since it was established on 1 December 1969, SOS has developed into a professionally run and managed organisation.
As part of the SG50for50 charity initiative, Allscript has pledged to support SOS in its bid to raise awareness its cause. We believe that there's still significant stigma and taboo surrounding suicide in current society, and it is our goal to help shed some light on these difficult topics, and in doing so, encourage those in crisis to seek the help that they need.
