Archie Comics Magazine

By Allscript 10 March 2016

If you grew up reading Archie comics or B&V Double Digest, you’ll be no stranger to the cast of Riverdale High - Archie Andrews, Betty Cooper, Veronica Lodge, Jughead Jones and Reggie Mantle.

After 75 years in print, our beloved freckled ginger and his friends are rebooted with a fresh new look by Eisner award-winning comic book writer Mark Waid and artist Fiona Staples. The all-new series is decked out in vibrant colours and beautiful illustrations instead of the usual short comic strips packed in a digest. Gone are the days of predictable knee-jerk humour of Archie accidentally hitting himself on his head. The reboot feels like an OC-drama series where the characters are more relevant and endearing to its readers. Plus points for adding more diversity with new Riverdale students such as Sheila Wu and Raj. Both old and new readers will have something to look forward to as Waid closes off each issue with an introduction to the Classic Archie and bonus content e.g. The very first Archie story (!) from 1941.

Some sneaks: Find out what happened between high school sweethearts, Archie and Betty in the #LipstickIncident, learn how Jughead got his nickname and how Veronica might not be such a snob after all.
